"My pain was reduced by about half, but it was still kind of there so I don't think P-DTR really worked. Now I'm seeing someone 3 times a week. I'm about 3 weeks in and it's beginning to feel a bit better."
Me: "How's your shoulder, (aka - primary complaint,) doing?" Client: "Oh, my goodness! I forgot about my shoulder! That hasn't hurt since I came to see you. I still had a bit of pain in my back, so I decided to go to someone else. I've been seeing them weekly and they say I should be good in about 4-6 months."
I'm beginning to realize why I seriously dislike following up with some clients.
There are usually multiple layers to work through. If you don't like P-DTR, that's one thing and I totally respect that, but that's not a complaint I hear. More often I get people who are disappointed that they didn't get complete resolution from just one session. Somehow those same people don't blink an eye when they schedule up to 40 appointments of another modality.
If you don't see any fault in the logic of either of these two conversations, please do us both a favor and skip your one appointment with me and book your 40 appointments elsewhere. I might need to have you come back a few times to work through some layers of dysfunction and that's too many for something you want to perceive as a miracle cure.
