This is not your relaxing massage!
Sessions are movement based. Please wear comfy/stretchy clothing! (Yoga-type clothing is great.)
I will be looking at various points on your body to find and clear the root cause of your pain.
Just a few of the things I work with:
- General muscle imbalances and muscular pain
- Back pain
- Tendinitis
- Scar tissue (including severe burn scars)
- Rotator cuff and other shoulder injuries
- Thoracic Outlet Syndrome
- Knee pain
- Hip pain
- I.T. Band Syndrome
- Bunions
- Whiplash
- Jaw pain, tinnitus and TMJ dysfunctions
- Incontinence or painful elimination (including exercise induced)
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Epicondylitis, (AKA golfer's or tennis elbow,) other elbow or wrist pain,
- Scoliosis
- Sciatica
- Plantar Fasciitis
- Shin Splints
- And more…
I specialize in getting clients past chronic pain. Everything is connected. I may ask about your knee if your shoulder hurts. I WILL ASK ABOUT YOUR SCARS! I'm always looking for the root cause. The corrections I do are usually pretty quick, but I spend a lot of time on assessments to be sure I work the right areas. This is not a relaxing massage! It's my goal to give you more lasting results.
I will be doing muscle testing and stimulating various nerve receptors in order to clear your pain. I may use Prioprioceptive Deep Tendon Reflex, (P-DTR®); Neurokinetic Therapy®, Functional Movement Screens™; Active Isolated Stretching and myofascial release to relieve pain, then progress into a Functional Movement program to get you back into whatever it is you want to do, whether it be sports, or just a walk to the grocery store. It's my goal to help you feel strong and balanced, allowing freedom to do the things you love.

Some methods I use:

Your brain's motor control system holds memory of prior injuries. Once you've developed compensation patterns, they remain until new stimulation comes along to interrupt those patterns. I will evaluate your movement to determine what needs release and work with the motor control system to improve your overall movement and eliminate pain. You will be given a few simple movements to do at home to help your body develop new patterns.

Also using motor control and dealing with the brain's memory of prior injuries, P-DTR takes the
work one step further and allows me to work with nerve receptors. This is the primary modality that I use because I find it to be the most affective. It's also very different from any type of bodywork that you've probably ever received. There's a video below if you would like to get an idea of what it's about. Sometimes stimulation of the nerve receptors may involve light poking, slapping, tapping or vibration while using an indicator muscle.

Everything is connected. Through movement, I can determine if the problem is related to tissue, structure, or motor control. The session and recommendations will be based on what is most appropriate for your needs.

As children, we learn how to move. We roll, crawl, kneel, stand upright, reach, bend, squat. As we age, many of us lose a lot of that mobility. Sometimes it's due to injury. Sometimes it's due to the habits of our day-to-day lives. Whatever the reason, a Functional Movement Screen will help determine your stuck points. I can take you through a series of 7 basic movements and use the information from that to develop a very specialized plan to get you moving better.
AIS Active Isolated Stretching
With Active Isolated Stretching, you are moving. You'll be engaging underworked muscles while I assist you in stretching what's tight. The motion improves the flow of blood and lymph, helping the overall healing process. Be sure to drink plenty of water after treatment!
